Maxxis Assegai Exo TR Folding Tyre - 29 X 2.5 WT
World Cup Champion Greg Minnaar's signature tyre. The Maxxis Assegai tyre is named after the iron-tipped spear used by the Zulu people of South Africa. Greg Minnaar, a native of South Africa, thought it was a fitting name for a tyre ready to do battle on the mountain. The tall knobs punch through dust and loam to find traction, but also offer support and confidence on wet roots and rocks. While other tyres excel only in certain conditions, the new Maxxis Assegai is built to go fast everywhere.
Wide Trail Casing (WT): This special carcass construction optimizes the tread layout and tire shape on today's modern wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and on wide rims they end up with a shape that is too angular and therefore less than ideal in terms of performance.
WT tires are optimized for an internal rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an internal dimension between 30 and 40 mm.
Tubeless Ready (TR): Tires with tube tubes have many advantages: You can drive with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no tube , the risk of a breakdown is reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for assembly with sealant than other "Tubeless Ready" tires. The bead of our TR tires is completely covered with a layer of rubber, like a real UST tube . This means that the tube can be installed successfully on all rims with standard dimensions the first time the tube is inflated and with little liquid.
Even "normal" MAXXIS MTB tires can be mounted tubeless with sealant like tires from other manufacturers, as the carcass fabric is very dense.
EXO Protection Technology: An extremely cut-resistant and abrasion-resistant material added to the sidewalls of select mountain tyres. This densely woven fabric is also lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring that the performance of the tyre remains unaffected. Choose EXO Protection for exceptionally rocky, treacherous trails where the chance of sidewall cuts and abrasions is high.
